The Dough House

I’m Mariah, mom of 2 and owner of The Dough House. We are based in Brentwood, California and sell our Magical Dough jars in over 500 toy stores across the US. In January of 2020, I quit my job of 9 years, and was all set to open up an indoor play space called The Playhouse. Plans were put on hold due to the pandemic and I was left with no job and 2 kids at home to entertain. I began making & posting about sensory bins to entertain my kids. As time went on, my friend and neighbor urged me to try making sensory dough.

Pulling from my chef background, and many test batches later, I finally developed a soft and squishy dough recipe and came up with “Magical Dough”. Next, I scoured the internet to make sure my idea to pair dough + trinkets all in 1 jar was the first of its kind. Then, “Magical Jars” were born. I started selling Magical Jars in June of 2020 from my kitchen. I would deliver jars all over town, sold them at farmers markets and a few local stores. When The Playhouse opened in May of 2021, I sold the jars there and still do. My wonderful husband quit his job after we opened a separate location for The Dough House in 2022, and he now operates the Wholesale business and makes all of the magical dough from scratch.
