The Bug’s Ear Boutique opened in 2009, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Owner Louise Davis started the shop with a passion in stationary and unique gift items, realizing there were no gift boutiques in the city. Along with her degree in Interior Design, her family support, and a love of design, The Bug’s Ear was created in a small corner at the Governor Manor in Elizabethtown. Word quickly spread about the on-trend jewelry styles, baby items and unique gift selections at reasonable prices. A few years later, The Bug’s Ear made the move to the old Cinema building next door, tripling in size and embracing the outdoor shopping center as a stand alone brick and mortar store.
It has always been Louise's vision to take her boutique brand and offer name brand items in the local area and online. Having a family and a thriving business, Louise knew opening an online store would be a huge undertaking. Louise enlisted the help of her two daughters, to help grow the family business. She knew they could execute the vision for the online brand and expand the success of the already thriving brick and mortar store. It seemed like a natural partnership having other family owned local businesses in the area.
The Bug’s Ear business continues to grow. So much, they recently moved The Bug’s Ear to The Assembly in downtown Elizabethtown at the beginning of 2024. The Assembly makes visiting the downtown area of Elizabethtown unforgettable and exciting. Being part of a venue has diversified the brick and mortar shopping experience and The Bug's Ear is excited to be part of this change. Operations run out of the brick and mortar store in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, with items being shipped all over the country.
